The teaser of ‘Nakalimutan ko nang Kalimutan ka’ has been the talk of the town these past few weeks as it shows some relatable hugot lines from a broken-hearted girl named Jaz (portrayed by Alex Gonzaga) who only wants to forget all the memories of her past with her ex-lover (portrayed by Vin Abrenica). Through the help of her best friend (played by Jerald Napoles), she will experience a lot of laughing and crying throughout the process of moving on.
Last September 7, 2018, the casts of ‘Nakalimutan ko nang Kalimutan Ka,’ together with their director Fifth Solomon, held their press conference at the Novotel Manila Araneta. They discussed how they made the story and gave some of their ‘moving-on’ tips.
The press conference started with a special number by Keiko Necesario. She sang her rendition of the movie’s OST, ‘Let Me be the One.’
Fifth Solomon, the writer and director of this film, mentioned in the press conference that this story was made when he was broken-hearted. “Pinakamasarap magsulat kapag yung nasasaktan ka o emotional ka. So sinulat ko eto nung time na nasasaktan ako.” This movie is his first ever film. He feels excited yet nervous at the same time.
The title, ‘Nakalimutan ko nang Kalimutan ka’ came from a spoken word poetry artist, Allen Tolosa. It took them a total of 15 shooting days, in Manila and Bataan, to finish the film. They first planned to join the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino. Unfortunately, they were not able to reach the deadline. But, Fifth Solomon said that he is still looking forward on creating more films and might join different film festivals in the future.
During the press conference, the artists were not able to avoid the questions of the media regarding their love lives and their process of moving on.
Here are some of their answers:
‘Fake it ‘til you make it,’ Alex Gonazaga mentioned. She believes that people need to remind themselves to move on and be happy. The day will come where you will no longer have to put effort because you already forgot the feelings.
One of the weirdest things Alex had done in the process of moving on was reaching the maximum state of being dumb. Once she reached that state, there’s no other way but to just go back up.
Joj, on the other hand, said that to move on, you should not stop trying. She also said that you should condition yourself and give more self-love. Be thankful to the people around you.
For Jerald, he accepted the fact that he has no other choice but to move on. No communication with his ex-lover helped him in moving on. He also mentioned that he focused more on his job to help him move on.
Keiko, the singer of their OST, said that she is a very religious person, so she tends to pray about it.
What to expect in this movie?
The movie will not be having the typical formula where there is a need for a dramatic rise. It is very realistic and will really make people think about the situation. People should also watch out for the symbolism showed in the movie.
Also starring, Ruffa Mae Quinto, Jayson Gainza, Loisa Andalio, Joj Agpangan, Jai Agpangan, Ricci Chan, Juan Miguel Sivero, and Keiko Necesario. Fifth Solomon wrote and directed this film.
